Instructor Bio

Desiree Sanchez has been an instructor at the world renowned Pilates Center of Boulder Colorado since the spring of 2000. She began her study of Pilates in 1994, and has been a client of Steve Giordano, Stephan Frease, The Pilates Center and many others. She began teaching Pilates in 1998 and completed a rigorous and comprehensive teacher training program at The Pilates Center in 1999. She is well trained and experienced in teaching all Classic Pilates exercises on all pieces of Pilates equipment. Desiree’s teaching draws heavily upon her extensive study and working relationship with Amy Taylor Alpers, Rachel Taylor Segel and Debora Robinson Kolwey. She completes 12 or more hours of Pilates Continuing Education courses annually to feed her teaching and deepen her understanding of this wonderful system.

Desiree earned a BA in Dance & Psychology from Naropa University in 1994. There she studied the work of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Ankoku Bhuto with Hiroko & Koichi Tomano, West African and Haitian dance and Contemplative Psychology. She worked in the field of elder care and Hospice for a number of years, taught autistic children, and ran an organic catering company called Earthly Delights.

In her free time, she has cultivated an extensive background in both dance and circus style aerial arts. She has studied low trapeze with Robert Davison and Nancy Smith, aerial fabric with Cathy Gauch, and single/double trapeze with Elsie & Serenity Smith. She was an active member of Imperial Flyers for over 5 years.

Desiree founded Organic Pilates in 2005 in order to bring the stress reducing, life enhancing health and fitness benefits of the Pilates Method to those in need of a great vacation.
